The natural site of the Plain Reculée in Damelevières, a former meander of the Meurthe, is home to a diversity of wetlands, including a forest of European interest. A wetland is an area where water is present significantly for at least part of the year and where the vegetation, when it exists, is characteristic. This type of environment is of major interest in the water cycle. It notably ensures the important functions of flood control and water purification. On the Plain ENS, the reculée, the wet meadow, the alluvial forest, the ponds and the reed beds are the different habitats that make up the wetland. The Plain Reculée is classified as a fishing reserve by prefectural decree (fishing prohibited from February 1 to April 30).
