Franco-German Cemetery
of reillon

Established in an open field, on the slope of a bare hillside, the cemetery of Reillon, is certainly, by its simplicity, its rigor, the harshness of its environment, the most impressive site of all the military cemeteries of the district of Lunéville. In this cemetery, with an area of 15450 m2, lie the bodies of 5428 German soldiers who died in the sector during the two world conflicts, and 1326 French soldiers killed between 1914 and 1918 (2 soldiers for 1939-1945). Created in 1920, following the fighting in the Vezouze sector, the necropolis brings together bodies exhumed from the neighboring military cemeteries: Thiébauménil, Leintrey, Vého, Laneuveville-aux-Bois and Domèvre-sur-Vezouze. The cemetery was developed from 1920 to 1924, and again from 1929 to 1932. The last renovation took place in 1955. Inside the cemetery, you can discover the war memorials of the 223rd and 333rd Infantry Regiments (74th Infantry Division) who fought in the sector from September 1914 to September 1916.
