in Meurthe-et-Moselle

Located in the heart of the Grand Est region, Meurthe-et-Moselle is an easily accessible destination!
By bike, train, car or plane: there are many transport solutions available from Paris, Dijon, Lyon, Lille or from the cities of the Grand Est.

When possible, use public transport!

By bike

Meurthe-et-Moselle offers 600km of cycle paths. Three interconnected routes cross our department:

  • The V50 (La Voie Bleue) Moselle-Saône by bike connects Luxembourg to Lyon along 700 km of water. In Meurthe-et-Moselle, the route mainly uses towpaths, via Nancy and Pont-à-Mousson.
    It is connected to Eurovélo 17 Via Rhôna.
  • The V52 Marne-Rhine Canal connects Vitry-le-François to Strasbourg. In Meurthe-et-Moselle you can take it between Foug and Parroy. (Please note that some sections are still being developed)
  • The Moselle Loop is connected to the V50, its route partly overlaps with the V52. It will allow you to reach Nancy from Toul… in slow mode!

By train

Daily rail links connect Meurthe-et-Moselle to major French and foreign cities.

  • En races Lorraine TGV (30 km from Nancy), by TGV from: Bordeaux (5h00), Brussels (3h10), London (4h45), Nantes (4h30), Stuttgart (2h15).
  • En train station of Nancy, from: Brussels (4h20 – TGV), Dijon (2h30), Frankfurt am Main (3h50), London (4h50 – TGV), Luxembourg (2h15), Mulhouse (2h05 – TGV), Paris (1h30 – TGV), Reims (0h55 – TGV), Stuttgart (3h00), Tours (4h30 – TGV).

From other cities in the Grand Est region, take the Regional Express Train (TER): Colmar (1 hour 40 minutes), Metz (40 minutes), Strasbourg (1 hour 30 minutes). The TER network serves many towns in Meurthe-et-Moselle, including Baccarat, Liverdun, Longwy, Lunéville, Neuves-Maisons, Pont-à-Mousson, Toul.

THEA 31 – Luxembourg/Lyon is the major axis crossing Meurthe-et-Moselle. It serves Nancy, Pont-à-Mousson and Toul.

Some estimated travel times*:

  • Dijon-Nancy (213 km): 2h
  • Lyon-Nancy (400km): 3h40
  • Paris-Nancy (385 km): 3h40
  • Lille-Nancy (445 km): 4h30

Longwy is accessible via theA30 and Lunéville via theA33.

When possible, opt for carpooling, car sharing, or travel by electric vehicle.

International airports provide access to Meurthe-et-Moselle:

  • Lux Airport (Luxembourg-Findel Airport) : 1h30 from Nancy
    Bus connection to Luxembourg (tram from spring 2025) then by TER to Pont-à-Mousson or Nancy.
  • EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg : 2h30 from Nancy, 2h from Lunéville
    Shuttle bus to Saint Louis station then TER to the towns of Meurthe-et-Moselle*
