Unique in its kind, the Nancy School Museum, in Meurthe-et-Moselle, highlights a world-famous artistic movement: Nancy Art Nouveau.
Housed in the former home of Eugène Corbin, the movement's first patron and major collector, the museum illustrates the philosophy of Art Nouveau. This artistic movement integrates art into every aspect of daily life: "art for all, and art in everything!" Furniture, ceramics, stained glass, and objets d'art... Each piece reveals the talent of the artists of the École de Nancy, including Majorelle, Vallin, Gruber, and more. A space is dedicated to the master glassmaker and cabinetmaker, Emile Gallé, founder of the movement: 400 exceptional pieces of glassware accompanied by ceramics and furniture.
Bordered by ponds and plant displays, the museum's garden invites you to stroll. It houses three emblematic monuments of Nancy's Art Nouveau style: the oak door of the Gallé workshops and its famous motto "My roots are in the depths of the woods," a circular pavilion containing an aquarium, and a funerary monument adorned with floral stained-glass windows. Its paths showcase the plant inspiration that marked the Nancy School.
