Come travel through time and discover the wonderful history of the origins of image animation, photography, cinema, and video. Guided tours and various activities accompany visitors on their journey. A gallery of photographic exhibitions completes the tour of the rooms in a space of nearly 1000 m2 (free admission). Old-fashioned screenings and conferences are regularly organized. The museum is one of the most important in France in its field. Both fun and educational, it welcomes visitors who discover step by step the evolution of know-how, from images in prehistoric caves, shadow theater, the magic lantern, the invention of photography and cinematography to the all-digital revolution. At each stage, the French genius is present from Emile Raynaud, Nicéphore Niepce, Jules Marey, the Lumière brothers, Georges Méliès, the Pathé brothers, Léon Gaumont and many other inventors and discoverers from around the world often unknown to the general public. Did you know? In 1914, 80% of world cinema was French. Visits adapted to request are possible every day of the week for groups (associations, schools of all ages with additional activities such as educational workshops, children's birthday ceremonies, etc.). The museum, managed by a non-profit association, is housed in the last building of the former barracks of the 4th Battalion of Chasseurs à Pieds, kindly made available by the town of Saint-Nicolas-de-Port. Groups are welcome every day by appointment (morning or afternoon)
