A few kilometers from Nancy, in Meurthe-et-Moselle, the medieval town of Liverdun overlooks the Moselle Valley. A former summer residence of the bishops of Toul, Liverdun tells its story through its rich and varied heritage.
Protecting one of the entrances to the medieval city, the Porte Haute is one of Liverdun's emblems. Framed by two towers, the square tower and the round tower, it is one of the finest examples of fortified gates in Meurthe-et-Moselle. Within the city walls, a tourist circuit leads you to discover Liverdun's architectural treasures: its Renaissance facades, the Saint-Pierre church, the elegant arcades of the Place de la Fontaine, and the washhouse. Perched on the ramparts, Corbin Castle and its majestic towers dominate the medieval city. From its wooded park, the panorama of the Moselle Loop is exceptional.
In May, Liverdun dons the colors of the Middle Ages. For a weekend of festivities, the town transforms into a true medieval setting, enlivened by a market, knightly battles, troubadour performances, and many other events.
