LUNEVILLE EMBROIDERY

A very varied collection of embroidered pieces, both in "Lunéville stitch" and "Beaded embroidery", will bring you back to life this long Lunéville adventure, and will lead you to Haute-Couture, where Lunéville still marks its specialty today: Le Point de Lunéville.
Museum and temporary exhibition all year round on rare and exceptional haute couture crafts. Pleater, florist, plumber... Presentation of haute couture dresses. Elie Saab, Docquin, Ungaro, C. Dior, L. Scott.
We are at the beginning of the 19th century. The manufacture of embroidery and lace is expanding in France. Wanting to imitate certain lace, the Lunévillois embroiderers gradually turned towards tulle embroidery, which would become such a commercial success that this technique would naturally be initiated in the name of the city: the "Point de Lunéville". It is an embroidery made on cotton tulle, with cotton thread, using the "Lunéville" hook; it was used at the time to make many articles, doilies: christening dresses, ladies' clothing (shawls, dresses...), liturgical effects (surpluses, altar linens). Under the impetus of the Conservatory, this embroidery has been elevated to the rank of high heritage and artistic value.
Permanent exhibition from April to October.
History of embroidery from 1880 to the present day. Demonstration of this art by young embroiderers.
Every year, exhibitions with renewed themes.
