Lieux de mémoire

Here, the 18th century is everywhere. From the Abbaye des Prémontrés to the royal Place Stanislas, the Château des Lumières at Lunéville to the National Stud at Rosières-aux-Salines, and so on. So many exceptional historical sites, classed as UNESCO world heritage sites.

The Ecole de Nancy was founded here, spearhead of the Art Nouveau movement in France. Great artists from Lorraine, Emile Gallé at the forefront, expressed their vision of this decorative art inspired by nature, in architecture, glass and crystal ware, stained-glass windows, metalwork, and even cabinet making
