By the Compagnie du Héron, based on the book by Nikolai Erdman (1916), directed by Baptiste Pierron. An absurd social comedy. Semione is unemployed. When a quarrel erupts in his marriage, he makes a suicide threat. A half-hearted one, without even really believing it. But everyone convinces him otherwise. Semione must die, for the sake of others… This comedy gives a voice to those who don't produce. In a society that demands productivity, existing without a purpose becomes a transgression. The play pushes this principle to the absurd: a worthless man is the winning ticket in a desperate social lottery. Despite everything, Semione, who dreams of being a musician, says no to all of this and yes to life, even the smallest life. The Compagnie du Héron brilliantly and humorously demonstrates in "The Suicide" that there is only one thing that cannot be taken away: the right to belong to oneself. "Never speak on behalf of those who suffer if you prevent them from speaking for themselves." Sunday, April 12 at 15 p.m. at the Bianchi Center (2 Allée de Bretagne).
