The oldest museum in the city, the Nancy Museum of Fine Arts is housed in one of the elegant pavilions on Place Stanislas, a must-see site in Meurthe-et-Moselle.
The museum's collections illustrate the history of art in Europe, from the 14th century to the present day. From graphic arts to Japanese art, different styles punctuate the museum's journey. Throughout the visit, masterpieces by renowned artists follow one another: Caravaggio, Rubens, Modigliani, Rodin… Talents from Meurthe-et-Moselle and Lorraine are also honored with emblematic figures such as Jacques Callot and Emile Friant. The Nancy Museum of Fine Arts is distinguished by its exceptional collection dedicated to the designer Jean Prouvé. Some thirty pieces retrace the artistic career of this visionary, world-renowned creator.
In the museum's basement, an impressive collection of Daum glass pieces showcases the art of glassmaking, an iconic skill of the Meurthe-et-Moselle region. Nearly 900 pieces are exhibited in the unusual setting of the remains of Nancy's fortifications. This remarkable selection offers a retrospective from the Daum factory's first productions in 1878 to contemporary creations.
