In a building located to the right of the village church, the Abbé Grégoire Museum in Emberménil presents the life's work of Abbé Grégoire, who was the parish priest of Emberménil, before, during, and after the French Revolution. An emblematic figure, Abbé Grégoire rallied to the Third Estate and the Constituent Assembly. He called for the abolition of slavery, led his fight on behalf of the Jews of France and also advocated universal suffrage. Founder of the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts, as well as the Bureau des Longitudes, he participated in the creation of the Institut de France of which he became a member. You will find around this Museum House a Human Rights stele, a cenotaph (Henri Grégoire), a memorial, plaques and a trompe-l'oeil. Along with 4 other French sites, the Maison de l'Abbé Grégoire is part of the Route for the Abolition of Slavery and Human Rights.
