The Saint-Rémy church in Baccarat, built in the 20th centurye century, stands out for its modern architecture. It is a major building of the Second Reconstruction in Lorraine, listed as a historic monument since 2013.
Built between 1955 and 1957 by the Greek-born architect Nicolas Kazis with the help of Mr. Laquenaire, a local architect, the Saint-Rémy church in Baccarat stands on the ruins of an earlier church, destroyed by bombing in 1944.
One of its characteristics is the significant presence of the triangle sign, symbol of the Holy Trinity, which is found in its structure and in particular its bell tower, in the shape of a trihedron.
However, its greatest feature lies in its stained-glass windows, unique in the world: 20 pieces of colored crystal, produced by the Baccarat crystal works, are fitted into the concrete walls. A total of 000 different shades create a rich color palette. They represent several elements: scenes from Genesis, the twelve apostles, and a rainbow.
