The Pratiqu'Am Festival returns for a new edition: discover La Fonte des Mondes (The Melting of Worlds) in Pont-à-Mousson! Commissioned by the Jean Wiener Conservatory of Music and Dance from composer Franck Natan to celebrate the 170th anniversary of the Saint-Gobain PAM Foundries, this symphonic and lyrical work retraces the history of the Lorraine Foundries, which became Saint-Gobain PAM, and those who contributed to its success. It tells the story of the engineers who brought water and life to lands where everything was dust, enabling genuine social progress and recognition of Lorraine's expertise across five continents. The work also features the renowned workers known as "the black hands," their almost fraternal bonds, and their dedication to extracting the coal and ore essential for producing the cast iron used in pipes. Acts of bravery, the construction of the Eiffel Tower, the resistance efforts during the Second World War, the cultural exchange of workers from different countries who came to work in the mines and foundries, water, the source of life and progress—all of this contributed to the success of Lorraine's industries and the pride of those who gave so much of themselves to them, sometimes sacrificing their lives.
