Saint-Rémy church

The Church of Deneuvre was built between 1742 and 1747, on the site of the fortified castle, with some of its own materials. Its construction was decided under Stanislas, and it continued until 1755, when the Presbytery and its outbuildings were built. The massive tower of the Church of Saint-Rémy is topped by a bulbous bell tower topped by a pinnacle. It is a perfect example of a barn church, that is to say, without a pillar. The building contains statuary and furniture that are almost entirely listed as Historic Monuments. The majority of the stone statues (16th century) come from the first church (1310-1715). A marble high altar, an imposing 18th century painting and three Baccarat crystal chandeliers complete the building's ornamentation. But the masterpiece of the Church of Saint-Rémy is undoubtedly the organ of 1704; restored in 1996, the instrument has regained its original appearance and timbre, with 22 stops spread over 3 manuals and a "French-style" pedalboard. The Church of Deneuvre was built between 1742 and 1747, on the site of the fortified castle, with some of its materials. Its construction was decided under Stanislas, in order to replace that of Laitre which was threatening to fall into ruin. In his account, Bernhardt gives the following details about the construction of this new church: "What remained of the Castle was buried under 5 meters of earth and rubble. Only its exterior walls were left visible. The immense belvedere formed by the embankments became private property. The old ground formed, behind the Church up to the Porte Saint-Nicolas, a sunken path, which was not filled in until 1755. At that time, the Presbytery and its outbuildings were built there, where they still are." With its massive appearance, its tower is topped by a bulbous bell tower topped by a pinnacle. The majority of the stone statues (16th century) come from the first church (1310-1715), some vestiges of the porch of which are still visible inside the cemetery. But the masterpiece of the Church of Saint-Rémy is undoubtedly the organ of 1704, built by the Metz organ builder, Claude Legros. Restored in 1996 by the Luxembourg Organ Manufacturer Georg Westenfelder, the instrument has regained its original appearance and timbre. Its 22 stops are distributed over 3 manuals and a pedalboard "à la Française". A brochure describing this restoration is on sale at the Musée des Sources d'Hercule.
