This summer 2026, the Prémontré Abbey will showcase a remarkable collection of pieces from a vast private collection entirely dedicated to the Mougin brothers. Joseph (1876-1961) and Pierre Mougin (1880-1955) established themselves as two leading ceramicists and sculptors from Nancy, key figures in the École de Nancy and later in the emergence of Art Deco. The Mougin brothers distinguished themselves in particular by their exceptional mastery of high-fire stoneware, as well as by their in-depth and innovative research into glazes. They created original, powerful, and expressive works, and later also produced designs created in close collaboration with other renowned artists such as Victor Prouvé, Alfred Finot, and Géo Condé. Their talent was officially recognized in 1925 when they received the Grand Prix for Art Ceramics at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, definitively securing their place in the history of French decorative arts. Includes a self-guided tour of the historic monument and its gardens. Free for residents of the Pont-à-Mousson area upon presentation of proof of residence.
