Built along the very steep slopes, Briey built a vast complex of fortifications around its castle. Completely demolished in 1660 by French troops, these fortifications were replaced by terraces occupied by pleasure gardens during the XNUMXth century. Some of these terraces have recently been restored, allowing for strolling in an exceptional setting at the foot of the old ramparts. Opposite, following its recent rehabilitation, the area of the Sangsue lake in Briey offers a pleasant walking path, links to marked trails and a playground. This route can be taken independently or as part of the guided tour of the old town.
