Markers by Paul Moreau-Vauthier (1871-1936), a Great War soldier and artist. They mark the front line of July 18, 1918. There are 118 markers, including 96 in France and 22 in Belgium. Carved from pink granite, at the top is a French helmet (it can be Belgian or British depending on the sector) placed on a laurel wreath. The different sides are decorated with bas-reliefs representing a gas mask box, a canister, and grenades. The Vauthier marker in Flirey bears the inscription "Georges Washington."
