Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Place de la Carrière and Place d'Alliance, Place Stanislas is an emblematic site of Nancy and Meurthe-et-Moselle.
With its gilded gates and intricately sculpted fountains, Place Stanislas is a masterpiece of 18th-century classical architecture. A symbol of Nancy, the statue of Stanislas Leszczynski stands in its center. Formerly King of Poland, the Duke of Lorraine entrusted the creation of this royal square to the architect Emmanuel Héré. He surrounded himself with the finest craftsmen of the time. Jean Lamour, a renowned master ironworker, created the famous gilded gates. As for the sculptor Barthélémy Guibal, he designed the fountains. Even today, Place Stanislas is considered one of the most beautiful royal squares in Europe. Lined with majestic buildings, the Town Hall, the Opéra National de Lorraine, and the Museum of Fine Arts, it is entirely pedestrianized. A place for strolling and conviviality, Place Stanislas vibrates throughout the year to the rhythm of cultural events: mapping, sound and light shows, concerts, Saint Nicholas celebrations... Located in the heart of Nancy and a stone's throw from the Parc de la Pépinière, it harmoniously links the Old and New Towns.
