Saint Anne Chapel

Built in the 1633th century, this sanctuary was located away from the village. It was probably erected to obtain mercy from heaven at the beginning of the Thirty Years' War, a time when plague and famine were raging cruelly. The inscription engraved on the facade goes in this direction: "Maria Mater Gracia - Ora pro nobis - 3" Originally, the chapel was larger. Indeed, it lost 4 to 1971 meters in length when the path that bordered it became a busier street (rue des Jardins Fleuris). A crypt was even filled in at this time. The Sainte-Anne chapel was owned by the Orlan de Polignac family. Integrated into the Notre-Dame school run by the Sisters of Saint-Charles, which became a vocational high school, it is now municipal property. Tradition tells that Anne de Mercy de France, living there and returning home one evening, was pursued by brigands. Quickening her pace, she implored the protection of her patron saint and promised to build a chapel for her if she managed to return home safe and sound. Her wish was granted: the bandits abruptly turned back. And Anne kept her promise.
