The Rochotte caves site is located on a rocky hillside overlooking the Meurthe River. This massif, composed mainly of conglomerate, dates back between 242 and 247 million years. Erosion has created small natural cavities, forming a primitive hermitage. The first official hermitage appeared during the 16th century. For hygiene reasons, a second hermitage was built in the 18th century under the direction of Valentin Jamerey-Duval. Information panels recounting the history of the site are located along the route. The 45-minute walk is ideal for families! Access is via a parking area at the end of Rue de l'Ermitage, which also includes a picnic area. Access is only permitted during daylight hours. Bicycle parking is available at the site entrance. Motorcycles and scooters are prohibited.
